Ten Travel Tips for Students Travelling Abroad

Travelling abroad can be trouble free but being prepared would avoid the chances of serious trouble. Some of the important things to be taken into account

are:

1. Ensure you have a duly signed and a valid passport and visa (if needed).

2. Be aware of the Consular information and public announcements or warnings related to the countries on your list.

3. Keep copies of your whereabouts and contact information with your family or friends for emergency. Also keep the hosts informed of your schedule.

4. Have medical insurance covering your medical emergency needs and travel insurance to cover you when abroad.

5. Understand the local laws and customs of the countries you wish to travel to since you would be subject to their laws once you land there.

6. Stay attentive in public areas and do not leave your luggage unattended. Accepting packages from strangers should strictly be avoided.

7. Avoid consumption of alcohols or drugs when abroad and avoid such a company.

8. Be careful with cash and jewelry and avoid carrying credit cards to evade thefts.

9. While exchanging money, carry out dealings strictly with authorized agents to avoid violation of local rules.

10. Avoid participating in demonstrations and situations that might hurt the sentiments of the country you are living in.
