The price of education is increasing every year and the rise has seen a similar rise in competition among students for jobs. With heavy expenses, finding jobs as a source of income have become a necessity. College students who should be concentrating on studies are being forced to hunt for jobs so that they can make ends meet.
With students requiring more financial aid, there is an increase in the number of students looking for employment. The current recession and drop in the market has made it even more difficult to find jobs. Earlier, the availability of job was ample and students had easy access to simple jobs like managing libraries, cafeteria and retail jobs. But the current crunch in the market has made that difficult and students are settling for jobs paying much less.
A student’s primary concern used to be studies and grades but with changing times, the focus has shifted to finding a job and being able to earn to support their education. Even with scholarships and loans, students find it difficult to manage funds and require means of additional incomes to make payments towards their loans.
The pressure of earning is depriving the students of the fun that should actually be a part of college life and exposing them very early on to the competitive world of employment.
